왜 아리스 인 보더랜드는 오징어게임만큼 성공하지 못했을까?

I binged on both shows recently and the main thing that struck me was that the quality of acting as a few leagues better in squid game

and it had much fewer plot holes than AiB.

AiB stayed true to its manga roots, but that resulted in dialogue and acting that seemed unnatural and at times cringy, to a general audience.

저는 최근 두 작품을 모두 즐겨봤는데요. 가장 인상 깊었던 것은 오징어게임의 연기 수준이 아리스보다 훨씬 뛰어나고
구멍이 적었다는 것입니다.
아리스는 원작만화의 재현에 충실했지만, 일반 관객들에게는 부자연스럽고 때로는 오그라는 듯한 대화와 연기를 보여줬습니다.

Squid game is easier to watch and binge on. Games are shallow but easy to understand.

SG just have than broader appeal to masses, easily digested.

AiB have better games, complex and "mental" instead of "physical" games that were in SG.

AiB is more fair in that sense because their games are mental but the average viewer have a harder time understanding the game/show than SG.


오징어게임은 쉽게 보기 편하다. 게임은 얕지만 이해하기 쉽다.
오징어게임은 대중들에게 더 큰 매력을 가지고 있고, 쉽게 받아들여진다.
아리스는 오징어게임에 있던 몸으로만 하는 게임 대신 복잡하고 머리를 쓰는 더 나은 게임을 보여준다.
아리스에 나오는 게임들이 머리를 쓰는 게임이기에 더 공정하지만, 일반 시청자들은 오징어게임보다 게임을 이해하는데 더 어려움을 겪는다.

Eh I see a decent amount of people say the acting is better, but I just can't agree. I cringed a lot more at certain parts in squid game than in AiB.

Like you said though since the dialogue is close to the manga I can see why some people may cringe.

I watch anime all the time and read manga occasionally so I think it doesn't effect me as much. Idk I don't agree with everything, but I get what you're saying.



많은 사람들이 오징어게임의 연기가 더 낫다고 말하지만, 난 동의 할 수 없어. 난 아리스보다 오징어게임의 특정 부분이 더 오그라들었어.
한미녀가 특히 그랬어.
하지만 너가 말했듯이 아리스의 대사가 만화 그대로라서 나는 왜 몇몇 사람들이 오그라드는지 알것 같아.
나는 항상 애니메이션을 보고 만화를 봐서 그렇게 오그라들지 않았지만... 무슨 말인지 알겠어.

You're focusing on the complexity of the game, which is fine, but also overlooking the complexity of the characters.

In this respect, Squid Game was far more complex and relatable. None of the characters in SG wanted to sacrifice themselves unrealistically, except Ji Yeong (the marble girl). These are reasonable. Now, let's look at AiB. Arisu's friends all had desires and goals for living on their own but all of sudden they sacrifice themselves for Arisu as if they were anime sidekicks? Cheesy. What about the game dealer in the beach arc who sacrificed herself for no reason just to get the attention of the other players? Lazy. Or the bald buff guy who just runs into the fire for no reason?



게임의 복잡성에 촛점을 맞추고 있지만, 캐릭터의 복잡성을 간과하고 있다.
이런 점에서, 오징어 게임의 캐릭터는 훨씬 더 복잡하면서도 현실적으로 다가왔다.
오징어게임의 등장인물중 삶의 목적이 없는 지영 외에 비현실적으로 자신을 희생하는 캐릭터는 없었다. 다들 합리적으로 행동한다.
이제 아리스를 보자.
아리스의 캐릭터들은 모두 스스로 살아가려는 욕망과 목표가 있었지만, 갑자기 그들은 아리스를 위해 애니메이션의 조연처럼 자신을 희생한다.
다른 플레이어들의 관심을 끌기 위해 아무 이유없이 자신을 희생한 비치 딜러는 어떤가...
아니면 아무 이유 없이 불 속으로 뛰어드는 근육질의 대머리 남자는 또 어떻고...

I prefer squid game. Aib and squid game has similar concept but focusing is really different.

Squid game director wanted to focus on real human world and characters are realistic. Aib is focusing on game itself.

So characters are too smart, too one dimensional.

Fun to watch but i can’t empathize with them. Acting style.. well I prefer realistic acting.

When i watch aib I constantly has been noted that this is manga based fictional story.


나는 오징어게임을 더 좋아해. 아리스 인 보더랜드와 오징어게임은 컨셉은 비슷하지만 포커스는 정말 달라.
오징어게임 감독은 실제 인간 세계에 초점을 맞추고 싶었기에 캐릭터가 현실적이야. 반면 아리스는 게임 자체에 집중하고 있다.
그래서 아리스의 캐릭터들은 너무 똑똑하고, 너무 일차원적이야.
보기에는 재미있지만 공감할수가 없었어.
나는 아리스를 볼때 마다 끊임없이 이건 만화를 바탕으로 한 허구적인 이야기라고 느꼈어.

Korean entertainment has been bigger than Japan's for a long time in Asia. Seriously, if you type the Prince of Asia you will know what I meant.

As big as anime is, it still considered as a kid shows and can't hold a candle against Korean entertainment such as Gameshow, drama, music and movie



한국 엔터테인먼트는 아시아에서 오랫동안 일본보다 더욱 성장했다. 정말이지, 아시아의 왕자라는 말이 무슨 뜻인지 알 수 있을거야.

애니메이션이 아무리 큰다 한들, 그것은 여전히 어린이 쇼로 간주되고 있고, 드라마, 음악, 영화로 대변되는 한국 엔터테인먼트에 대항할 수 없다.

아리스 한 두회 봤는데 손발이 오글거려서 포기했다...
